Meet Michael Sanft, Your Trial Attorney
Our lead trial attorney, Mike Sanft, grew up on the island of Tonga. His childhood home had no electricity and shared a single water faucet with three other houses. Then at age 12, Mike and his family flew from Tonga to San Diego in search of a new life. As he watched the green island disappear below, Mike promised himself two things: 1. to always honor the people, place, and culture that raised him; and 2. to seize the opportunity America provided.
Years later, after his LDS mission, Mike enrolled at BYU-Hawaii. It was there that he found a bridge to his native culture as a dancer at the Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC). As a dancer for the PCC, Mike learned how to perform and, most importantly, how to form real connections with different cultures and people. Through performing at the PCC, Mike stayed true to his first promise of honoring the people, place, and culture that raised him.
It was now time to focus on the second promise he made to himself: seizing the opportunity that America provided. Given Mike’s relentless work ethic, natural ability to connect with people, and desire to help society’s most vulnerable individuals, becoming an attorney was the next logical step in his journey. Sure enough, Mike did just that.
Putting his performance and people skills to good use, he went on to become one of the most respected and effective trial attorneys in America, having obtained favorable jury verdicts and settlements for hundreds of clients. During his decades of practice, Mike has tried more than 150 cases to jury verdict and has litigated cases all the way up to the 9th Circuit.
In a day and age where most lawyers are lucky to take 10 cases to trial in their entire career, Mike’s experience trying over 150 cases to jury verdict and having reached strong settlements for hundreds more clients truly sets him apart. To give himself even more of an edge, Mike has partnered with lawyers who previously defended the very companies he now sues in the product liability world. Meet Kristian Kaskla, Your Litigation Attorney
Kristian is a dedicated attorney and a partner at SOS Injury Lawyers. Alongside his esteemed partners, Michael Sanft and Ryan Saldanha, Kristian is committed to applying his extensive knowledge and skills to advocate for injured plaintiffs. Prior to joining SOS Injury Lawyers, Kristian began his career at Nevada’s most highly regarded insurance defense firm, where he represented multi-billion dollar companies in high-stakes litigation. Kristian has fought cases successfully through appeal in Nevada and California, both states he is licensed in.
During his time defending companies, Kristian focused almost exclusively on catastrophic injury lawsuits—cases involving complex medical treatment histories with millions of dollars on the line. He regularly litigated against the country’s top attorneys, honing his skills in motion practice and developing a deep understanding of the complex legal issues that arise in such cases. Throughout his career, Kristian has litigated a wide range of catastrophic injury cases, including cases involving wrongful death, burn injuries, amputations, and traumatic brain injuries.
Kristian had a knack for developing creative theories and legal strategies that resulted in great results. His passion for justice eventually led him to start representing injured plaintiffs, as he became frustrated with missed opportunities he observed in the work of many plaintiff’s attorneys. He decided to leverage his experience and knowledge to benefit injured individuals, ensuring they receive the representation they truly deserve.
He is relentless in his pursuit of justice for his clients, drawing on his unique background and perspective as a first-generation American of Estonian descent. Kristian’s father, a refugee from the German occupation of Estonia during World War II, immigrated to the United States with the shirt on his back as a 11-year-old boy and went on to become a successful engineer. Inspired by his father’s hard work and determination, Kristian embodies these qualities in his own approach to the practice of law, striving to secure the best possible outcomes for his clients.

Meet Ryan Saldanha, Your Litigation Attorney
Before partnering with Kristian and Mike and turning his focus towards representing injured individuals and their families, Ryan spent years at Nevada’s preeminent defense firm representing some of America’s largest companies in catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases. While he rose through the ranks and became a shareholder at his prior firm, Ryan realized shortly after his promotion that his true passion was in representing individual plaintiffs who needed his help the most. Now, Ryan dedicates his time, effort, and expertise to representing those injured by the very companies he used to represent.
Ryan’s prior experience representing defendants gives him a unique advantage in representing injured plaintiffs. For example, during his time as a lawyer for corporate America, Ryan gained invaluable experience in the electronic document production world (ESI), which now gives him an undeniable edge in tracking down the very documents and evidence that keep companies and their executives up at night.
Ryan’s in-depth understanding of the legal strategies used by large corporations and insurance companies to defend themselves allows him to anticipate their moves and build stronger cases for his injured clients. He also knows the pressure points that companies are most sensitive to when determining case value, and is able to negotiate with defense counsel and insurance carriers in a language that is highly persuasive to them.
With his experience representing defendants in catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases, Ryan has a strong understanding of the complexities that come with these types of cases. He has successfully litigated cases involving a wide range of issues, including product defect, negligence, and jurisdictional issues, and prides himself on his passion for product defect in particular.
In his free time, Ryan enjoys spending time with his wife, two dogs, and family. He rides motorcycles, loves to work out almost as much as he loves to eat, and volunteers with Opportunity Village and Gentlemen by Choice.
